Dog Sweaters Are Not Only Cute But Functional When we first bought out miniature dachshund, my kids all said, “We need to get her some doggie clothes.” My immediate response was “No way! She’s a dog. Dogs are animals, and I’m not going to humiliate her by putting clothes on her!” Really, I thought those foo foo doggie clothes were ridiculous! We got her on January 7th. On January 8th, as I was walking through the pet store looking for doggie sweaters, I was the one humiliated! Seriously, I took her for a walk that first day and felt so sorry for her that I brought her inside and put paper down for her to pee on. She was a shivering bundle of pathetic. Within a few days, we had a wardrobe for our new little family member that was just adorable. Unfortunately, most of it was functionless because I hadn’t taken into consideration that just because she was extra small didn’t mean she wore extra small clothes. Some of her clothes were so huge that they swallowed her whole and provided no effective protection from the cold. Others were perfect, if only she weren’t so disproportionately long, so only about 1/3 of her body was protected. Other things were cute, but they were too thin or too thick. Eventually, I caught on that I needed to start taking my little Friday with me when I went clothes shopping. That saved me a bundle of money! I’m sure someone at the Goodwill appreciated the bargain they got on my earlier errors! In the end, I got her:
